SmartX Ambassador Program: your share of the trading fees generated by referred traders, set by how many of them traded in the last 30 days.

Updated July 2026 · 6 min read

Almost every prediction market pays people to bring in traders. The programs get called referral, affiliate, or ambassador programs, and they all run on the same mechanic. You share a link, the people who use it trade, and you receive a share of the fees they generate. What decides whether a program is worth your time is not the headline percentage. It is what that percentage is a share of, and what you must keep doing to hold it. Below is the SmartX Ambassador Program as a worked example. None of this is financial advice.

You earn a share of fees, not a bounty per signup

A prediction market venue makes money by charging a fee on trading. A referral share is a slice of that fee stream, so your earnings move with the volume your referred traders put through the venue. Ten people who trade several times a week are worth far more than two hundred who registered and never placed an order.

Your income is not a function of how many links you posted. It is a function of what the people behind those links do. A lower headline rate over an audience that trades pays more than a higher rate over one that does not.

Why signup-count programs attract abuse

Some programs pay a flat bounty per registered user. Easy to model, and easy to game. Fake accounts, incentivised registrations, and bought traffic all produce the same outcome: a large user table and no trading. Platforms that pay per signup usually end up tightening the rules mid-season, delaying payouts, or shutting the program down.

Fee share does not have that failure mode. There is nothing to farm unless real money moves through the order book, which is what the platform wanted anyway. That alignment is why volume-based programs last longer and pay more predictably.

A worked example: the SmartX Ambassador Program

SmartX runs an ambassador program built on fee share. Every approved ambassador starts at 30 percent of the trading fees generated by the traders they refer, and from there the rate moves with how many of those traders were active in the last 30 days.

Active has a specific definition, and that is the part that matters. A trader counts only if they placed at least one real trade in the period, so a signup with no trade does nothing for your tier. Tiers are reviewed on the 1st of each month, and a tier only drops after two consecutive months below the line.

How two level referrals compound

The program also pays on a second level. When a trader you referred invites someone new, 20 percent goes to that trader and the remainder of your tier stays with you.

Your tierTo the trader who referredStays with you
30%20%10%
40%20%20%
50%20%30%

Read that table from the right column. Moving up a tier raises what you earn on your own referrals and what you keep when your referred traders bring in people of their own, because the 20 percent they receive is fixed and everything above it stays with you. At the base rate, most of a second level referral goes to the trader. At the top tier, more of it stays with the ambassador.

The two mechanics stack. More referred traders actively trading lifts the tier, and a higher tier widens the slice you keep on every second level referral underneath you.

The marketing support pool

On top of the fee share, SmartX runs a $2,000 monthly pool for marketing support, shared among ambassadors whose referred traders generate 1 million or more in monthly trading volume and split by volume share. It is not a flat payment, and not everyone in the program receives it. It exists to fund the people already producing real volume.

What you have to do to hold the rate

The program is not passive. Two obligations hold the base rate. The first is content, at least 2 original pieces per month, where pure reposts do not count. The second is engagement with posts marked priority in the ambassador group. Both point the same way. This is built for people publishing to an audience, not for people who drop a link and wait.

What makes a referral program worth joining

Before you spend months on any program, check four things.

A program failing several of these wants you to work first and learn the terms later.

The realistic picture

This structure rewards one person: someone with an existing audience of people who actually trade. A trading group, a research newsletter, a community that follows markets. The terms are favourable there, because the tier ratchets up as the audience becomes active and the second level keeps paying as the network extends.

For a link spammer it pays close to nothing. Registrations without trades do not move the tier, do not generate fees, and do not count toward the volume pool. There is no version of this where posting a link into a hundred group chats produces income. Only real trading pays, which is exactly why it is worth the time of anyone with real traders to bring.

How to apply

The SmartX Ambassador Program approves ambassadors individually rather than through an open signup form. To apply, message @kwanyeonglee on Telegram, who leads the program, so you are talking to the person who runs it rather than a support queue. Come with where you publish, how many people you reach, and whether those people trade.

To apply, message the program lead on Telegram. To see the product you would be referring, open the terminal first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply to the SmartX Ambassador Program?

There is no open signup form. Message @kwanyeonglee on Telegram, who leads the program, and explain where you publish, roughly how large your audience is, and whether those people trade prediction markets. Applications are reviewed individually.

How much can you earn from prediction market referrals?

There is no fixed answer, because the payout is a share of the trading fees your referred traders generate. Earnings track their volume, so the same number of referrals can produce very different results depending on whether those people trade. Anyone quoting you a fixed figure per referral is describing a bounty program, not a fee share program. This is not financial advice.

What counts as an active referred trader?

In the SmartX program, a referred trader counts as active if they placed at least one real trade during the period. A signup with no trade does not count, so it has no effect on your monthly tier. Tiers are set by how many of your referred traders were active in the last 30 days.

What happens if I have a slow month?

Tiers are reviewed on the 1st of each month, and a tier only drops after two consecutive months below the line. One quiet month does not reset your rate. Holding the base rate also requires at least 2 original pieces of content per month, where reposts do not count, and engagement with posts marked priority in the ambassador group.
